The BMW EntryNav2 head unit is a navigation/multimedia system found in some BMW models, typically in the more entry-level trims or older models. It offers basic navigation features such as route guidance, turn-by-turn directions, and a map display. It's not as feature-rich as higher-end systems like the iDrive system, which offers more advanced options like a touch screen, a larger display, and greater integration with other car functions, but EntryNav2 is more budget-friendly.
It is part of BMW’s iDrive system and was introduced as a more cost-effective alternative to higher-end head units like the NBT Evo or ID5/ID6.
Some EntryNav2 models are not even equipped with navigation maps.
Supports FM/AM radio, Bluetooth audio, USB, and AUX input. May support DAB/DAB+ digital radio, depending on the configuration. Comes with a simplified iDrive system, usually featuring a smaller screen (6.5” or 8.8”) compared to premium models. It is controlled via the iDrive controller (rotary knob), sometimes paired with a touchscreen option.
ConnectedDrive Services are limited functionality compared to higher models. May include basic telematics services, weather, and news apps.
Equipped with less processing power compared to Evo ID5/6 units, meaning slower performance, they are typically found in models like the BMW F-series (e.g., F20, F30) and some G-series entry-level trims.
They are not capable of video playback, so video in motion coding does not apply to EntryNav2, and they are not capable of screen mirroring for Android phones, as are the Evo ID5/6 units.
Do your BMW have EntryNav2?
The graphical interface of the EntryNav2 units is almost identical to that of the Evo ID5/6 units.

WLAN port PROBLEM
In any case, CarPlay can be activated on any EntryNav2 unit, but that doesn't mean it can be used. BMW implemented CarPlay on its systems only through wireless connectivity.
Unlike Audi or Mercedes, on BMW, connecting to CarPlay is only possible wirelessly, via Wi-Fi, not through a USB cable.
This is where the issues arise. Most EntryNav2 units are not equipped with a WLAN port for Wi-Fi connectivity. In this case, activation is useless because connecting to CarPlay will be impossible.
First, it needs to be verified whether the unit is equipped with a WLAN port, and only then can CarPlay be activated. To check the presence of the WLAN port, we need the car's VIN, and you can contact us on WhatsApp. CarPlay activation for EntryNav2 can be purchased from HERE.
Common Retrofits or Upgrades for EntryNav2:
1. Apple CarPlay Activation: CarPlay can often be enabled via coding or third-party activation.
2. Upgrading to NBT Evo: Many users upgrade to NBT Evo for better features and a smoother experience.
3. Android Auto Add-on: External modules or adapters can add Android Auto compatibility.
4. Screen Upgrade: The EntryNav2 is compatible with larger OEM screens (e.g., 8.8” or 10.25”).
